Description

You'll start in 4000-year-old Jaffa, see the archaeological findings from the days of the Pharaohs, Crusader ruins, mosques, and churches, evidence of Napoleon's invasion and defeat, and walk along the winding alleyways of old Jaffa and the Jaffa Port. Back in the 1950s, Jaffa was the first in Israel to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tour continues at Tachana, the Old Turkish railway station built over a hundred years ago. The original tracks and antique train cars are part of the renovated open-air complex. The beautiful European-style buildings are part of Valhalla, a German Protestant colony from the 1870s established by the Templers, who helped build up the Holy Land. You’ll further visit Never Zedek Neighborhood – the first Jewish Settlement outside Old Jaffa walls and the birthplace of modern Tel Aviv. This small neighborhood looks like it has just stepped off the picture of one of the Jewish townlets in Eastern Europe of the XIX Century. Then the tour moves into the vibrant heart of Modern Tel Aviv around Rothschild Boulevard, to discover the seemingly impossible mix of modern skyscrapers, and beautiful Eclectic and also Bauhaus architecture of the White City of Tel Aviv, designated a World Heritage site by UNESCO. The last but not the least stop is Sarona, a German Templars colony and one of the earliest modern villages of Palestine. Its well-preserved houses are all built in the old German style, and the entire area is an open-air market and recreation area.
