Description
Depart from Tel Aviv and travel north along the Mediterranean coast, passing Herzliya and Netanya.
Begin at Caesarea, built by Herod and named after Emperor Caesar. Discover remnants of this once prosperous city, including gateways, a moat, and well-preserved walls and rooms. Visit the Roman amphitheater, still used for performances, as well as the remains of a hippodrome and a Roman temple above the ancient port.
Continue to Haifa to visit the Baha'i Shrine and its terraced gardens, which cascade down the mountain with 19 terraces full of flowers and landscaping.
Next, reach Rosh Hanikra at Israel’s northern Mediterranean border. Descend by cable car into limestone grottoes formed by sea waves against the rocks.
On the return journey, stop in Acre (Akko), the largest Crusader city in Israel. Explore well-preserved architecture, bustling markets, reconstructed walls and moat repaired by El Jazzar in the late 1800s, and learn how these defenses repelled Napoleon. Visit Crusader ruins, a Turkish-era prison, and the British Mandate gallows where Jewish immigrants were executed post-World War II.
